Valley Stream pulls in $1 million win playing Powerball.

Months later, his Christmas came early.

A Long Island man claimed a $1 million Powerball prize after matching the first five numbers in the Dec. 22 drawing, New York Lottery officials announced on Thursday.

Thomas Rey Tse of Valley Stream happily received a lump sum this week of $651,000 after taxes. Tse bought his lucky ticket inside the food mart at the Shell Gas station at 100 West Merrick Road in Valley Stream.

The winning numbers were 3, 18, 36, 41, 54, with a Powerball of 7.

Powerball drawings are held three times a week — Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays — at 10:59 p.m.

Monday’s drawing awarded the $251 million jackpot to a winner in Arkansas, resetting the grand prize. Saturday’s drawing will feature a jackpot of about $35 million.
