Long Island man wins $1 million playing Mega Millions

|

A Commack man this week cashed in on his summertime luck playing New York’s Mega Millions.

Stephen Krasniewski claimed a $1 million second prize for matching the first five numbers in the Aug. 4 drawing. On Friday, he received a single lump sum payment of $651,000, after required withholdings.

The winning numbers from that evening’s drawing were 11, 30, 45, 52, and 56; the Mega Ball was 20.

Krasniewski’s winning ticket was purchased at the Bolla Market located at 2084 Jericho Turnpike in Commack.

Prior to Krasniewski, New York Lottery’s last big winner from Long Island was Zhu Wu Chen of Woodbury. He claimed a $1 million prize on the New York Lottery’s VIP Millions scratch-off game, having purchased his winning scratch-off ticket in Syosset at the BP gas station on Oyster Bay Road.
