Lottery lightning has struck twice on Long Island in the last week.
A $1 million second-prize Powerball ticket from Saturday’s drawing was sold at Hillside Cigar Shop, 338 Hillside Ave. in Williston Park, the New York Lottery announced on Monday. It’s the second such win on Long Island in less than a week.
In last Monday’s Powerball drawing, Port Jefferson Village Grocery also sold a $1 million winner.
Saturday’s jackpot had swelled to $1.79 billion before two players — one in Missouri and a second in Texas — hit the top prize. They’ll split the record haul.
The winning numbers were 11, 23, 44, 61 and 62; the Power Ball picked was 17.
The odds of winning the jackpot were one in 292,201,338, while the odds of winning a $1 million second-prize ticket like the one sold in Williston Park are one in 11.7 million.
Additionally, 20 third-prize-winning tickets worth $50,000 were sold statewide for Saturday’s drawing, including three on Long Island:
- Bolla 170 Bay Shore C-Store, 170 Bay Shore Road, North Babylon
- Hill Enterprise Inc. DBA Gulf, 3818 Sunrise Highway, Seaford
- King Kullen, 231 W. Merrick Road, Valley Stream
