Shirley has a new pizza option, and it comes with a few unique twists.
Lifelong friends Jose Garcia and Julio Maet opened Los Amigos Pizzeria this fall at 351 William Floyd Parkway, next to the T-Mobile in William Floyd Plaza.
The shop’s front counter is loaded with cheese, grandma and specialty slices awaiting the oven. And the eatery’s kitchen cranks out such favorites as meatball parmigiana heroes, chicken francese, lobster tortellini and penne all vodka.
The shop also offers monthly specials. Throughout December, customers can pop in for steak, fish and jumbo shrimp tacos with lettuce, tomato, pico de gallo, cheddar cheese, chipotle mayo and avocado.
On the right side of the small shop is a sign turning attention to a take-out hot lunch section, offering options like fried and white rice, steamed vegetables, empanadas and other items that might seem out of place on a traditional pizzeria menu.
“We want to change it up a little bit,” Garcia said. “We can’t just have the same thing.”
