Winning the lottery made 2020 a lot more bearable for these lucky Long Islanders

With good reason, many of us today are anxious to bid farewell to 2020. But thanks to the New York State Lottery and a ton of good luck, the year proved to be pretty fantastic for a handful of Long Islanders.

Whether it was playing scratch-off tickets or trying their luck at picking numbers, winners from Holbrook, Bay Shore, East Moriches and Amityville all struck it big — each hitting for at least $1 million.

Holbrook man wins $1M

Richard Raynor of Holbrook picked five winning numbers in a summertime Powerball drawing — good enough for a $1 million second prize.
