The team behind Great South Bay Brewery has officially opened its newest venture in downtown Bay Shore — a New York City-inspired cocktail bar called Magnolias.
Located in the former King’s Chophouse space at 52 E. Main Street, Magnolias opened Tuesday night.
“Last night’s grand opening was incredible — seeing Bay Shore come out to celebrate with us was everything we hoped for,” said Joshua Soto, GSB’s marketing manager. “Magnolias is about more than martinis and small plates; it’s about creating a place where people feel at home.
“We’re grateful for the warm welcome and can’t wait to keep raising a glass with this community.”
Magnolias is described by ownership as “upscale but approachable,” with a focus on traditional martinis and a high level of hospitality.
“Everything we do here will have hospitality in mind,” general manager Joey LaRocca previously told Greater Long Island. “We know there are a lot of great places on Long Island, but not enough that do it the way we want to.”
While the owners are the same as Great South Bay, Magnolias is a completely separate concept that had been in the works for nearly six months before opening.
Instead of craft beer, many of the drinks here would make James Bond proud — think Vesper Martini, just like 007 enjoyed in Casino Royale.
LaRocca said earlier this month that dry gin and vodka are among the focal points. “Classics done right,” he explained. “We want people to come here, enjoy our drinks, eat some food, and stay here for hours. The Bay Shore community is the perfect spot for that.”
The menu backs that up, with what the team calls “eclectic dishes,” including a raw bar and small bites.
