Massapequa Park man claims $4M Mega Millions prize

|

A Massapequa Park man is closing out July with a bang — turning a $5 Mega Millions ticket into a $4 million jackpot.

The South Shore resident matched the first five numbers in the April 15 drawing — 6, 10, 13, 24 and 63 — missing only the Mega Ball, which was 2. That’s normally a $1 million win, but thanks to the game’s “individual multiplier” option, his prize was quadrupled.

He opted for a lump sum payment of $2,604,001 after withholdings, collecting his winnings on Friday.

The lucky ticket was sold at Manya Card and Gifts on Hicksville Road in Seaford.

According to the New York Lottery, Mega Millions sales topped $441 million statewide in the 2023–2024 fiscal year, with $220 million of that supporting schools in Nassau County.

The current jackpot for the next Mega Millions drawing is $130 million.
