The champions are in for a celebration!
The girls from Massapequa Park, who represented the Mid-Atlantic region and emerged as winners of the 2023 Little League Softball World Series, will be honored with festivities on Monday, Aug. 28. (Note: The event was initially scheduled for this Friday, Aug. 25, but was postponed due to a rainy forecast.)
The event — co-hosted by the Village of Massapequa Park, the Town of Oyster Bay, and Nassau County— will include a parade that begins at 5:30 p.m. at Brady Park on 1000 Lake Shore Drive. From there, a procession will head to Village Hall, located at 151 Front Street.
At Village Hall, the local municipalities will recognize the Massapequa International 12-and-under girls’ team, who became the first team ever from New York to secure victory in the tournament.
The tournament finished on Sunday, Aug. 13, with Massapequa clinching a 5-1 victory over the North Carolina (Southeast) team in the finals.
