Willy’s Azúcar brings Cuban flair to Massapequa Park

|

Massapequa Park is now home to a new destination for Cuban cuisine, cocktails and culture — and in plenty of time to serve up $4 house margaritas at its big Cinco de Mayo celebration scheduled for next month.

Willy’s Azúcar Cuban Restaurant & Bar held its official grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday. The festive event marked the fourth Long Island location for “The Cuban” restaurant group, which also operates in Garden City, Queens, and on Main Street in Patchogue.

The new location inside the Southgate Shopping Center actually began serving guests in late February.

“Congrats to Willy’s Azúcar Cuban Restaurant & Bar on their Grand Opening in Massapequa Park!” Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, who participated in the grand opening event, wrote in a Facebook post. “A new addition to Nassau County bringing culture, flavor, and azúcar to the community. Wishing you success.”

Willy’s Azúcar is owned and operated by William Martinez, a native of Cuba and the CEO of the growing restaurant chain. The experience promises “a land of vacation, music, beauty, and elegance,” according to the company’s website, with a menu featuring traditional and contemporary Cuban dishes, exotic drinks, and live entertainment.

Brunch parties every Friday and Saturday

Among the restaurant’s signature offerings are its weekend “Brunch Party” events every Friday and Saturday. Guests can enjoy food, drinks, and a live DJ from noon to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
