McDonald’s opens in Blue Point; takes place of community staple

|

Burger King’s 40-year-run at 32 Montauk Highway in Blue Point came to an abrupt end in October 2023, amid a slew of nationwide closures.

Now, just a year later, a brand-new McDonald’s has opened in its place.

The Blue Point Burger King was especially loved by local families for its Hollywood kitsch and 1950s vibe, including a booth that looked like a ’57 Chevy.

Nonetheless, the new McDonald’s was packed on Saturday, Nov. 2, for its grand opening. The Blue Point McDonald’s is reportedly owned and operated by franchisee Johnah Kaufman, who now operates 11 locations on Long Island.

For locals still craving a Whopper Jr., the nearest Burger King locations include the newly renovated Bohemia spot at Sunrise Highway.

Then the are the locations at 246 Medford Avenue and 500 Waverly Avenue, both in Patchogue.

Another also opened earlier this year in the new Bolla Market off Sunrise in Islip Terrace.
