The buyers offered $2 million. And the owners of the former Miller Place Inn wedding hall said, “I do.”
On the market since summer 2023, the sale of the commercial property was finalized in recent days, with new ownership planning to open a new catering hall some time in 2025, according to a report.
Rena Hope LLC purchased the 11,000-square-foot building at 195 North Country Road in Miller Place, nearly 11 months after the Miller Place Inn, a catering and event business, suddenly closed and left many newlyweds-to-be scrambling to adjust their wedding plans.
The broker on the deal said new owners will invest in renovations before re-opening the venue under a new name, the Long Island Business News reported.
The commercial property — adjacent to the Miller Place school district’s North Country Road Middle School — originally hit the market with an asking price of $3.5 million. That price dropped earlier this year to $2.6 million.
‘Great opportunity’
Coldwell Banker American Homes’ Bryan Karp represented the buyer, while Carmine LiBretti of Industry One Realty represented the seller, Regina Long Island LLC, the report said.
“This is a great opportunity for the purchaser to start a new catering facility in a desirable location,” LiBretti told LIBN.
Built in 2002 with a 250-seat capacity, the hall had operated primarily as a wedding venue, earning an array of prestigious hospitality awards over the decades.
In October 2020, Suffolk County fined the Miller Place Inn $10,000 for violations of state executive orders relating to the COVID-19 pandemic and $2,000 for a county sanitation code violation, following a Sweet 16 party, where 37 of the 81 guests subsequently tested positive for COVID-19.
Additionally, more than 300 other individuals were quarantined as a result.
