MSG Networks picks up Bay Shore native Joe La Puma’s sneaker show

|

Joe La Puma’s popular Sneaker Shopping with Complex show has been viewed over 190 million times through YouTube in recent years.

But there’s something about being on old-school TV.

“It’s pretty awesome,” said La Puma, whose show just got picked up by MSG and is airing after select Knicks games. “My mom even stayed up past 9:30 to watch the episodes on Friday and Sunday night.”

MSG is running 10 archival episodes of Sneaker Shopping, which involves La Puma as the host, talking about sneakers with celebrities.

The first debuted Friday night, Oct. 27, after the Knicks-Nets game. Then last night, Sunday, the episode featuring the Ball family (LaVar, Lonzo) ran after the Knicks-Cavaliers game.

La Puma — the VP of Content Strategy at Complex — happened to be at the new Napper Tandy’s in Bay Shore Saturday night when the first show was being replayed after a Rangers game.

“It was very cool, and slightly awkward seeing myself on multiple TVs,” he said.

The deal between Complex  and MSG was in the works for awhile, though he couldn’t announce anything until the ink had dried.

“Me being from New York and going to school at UCONN, I was really excited at the thought of a tri-state centric channel airing episodes of Sneaker Shopping,” he told GreaterBayShore.

“New episodes will always be on YouTube. Mondays at 10 a.m.. If it’s not Sneaker Shopping it will be my other show, Complex Closets.”
