Mushroom coffee comes to Long Island with grand opening of Mush Coffee

|

The mushroom coffee craze has officially arrived on Long Island — and now it’s easier than ever to get your hands on a cup.

Mush Coffee, a brand-new shop dedicated to the nutrient-packed brew, is now open in East Rockaway.

“It’s something that you can’t find anywhere else,” co-owner Jenny Sprizzo told Greater Long Island. “It’s delicious and it’s good for you too.”

So, what exactly is mushroom coffee?

It’s a blend of traditional coffee beans and extracts from functional mushrooms — nutrient-dense fungi known for their health benefits. Mush calls it “where tradition meets wellness.”

“It’s a superfood. It gives you energy without the caffeine,” said co-owner Doreen Xu. “You can drink a few cups and your hands won’t shake.”

WHAT TO KNOW

“I ordered the mocha, and you can really taste the mocha,” said Al Comanda, an East Meadow resident who was among the first customers at Sunday’s grand opening. “No, you don’t taste mushrooms.”

Mushroom coffee isn’t exactly new, but the way Mush Coffee serves it is.

The shop sources its beans from Colorado, where they’re specially blended for flavor and health benefits. Until now, fans of mushroom coffee would typically have to purchase it pre-ground to brew at home.

Now, it’s made fresh to order — with plenty of options.

Customers can choose from Mush Lattes, Mushccinos, and the Caramel Musshiato — all served hot or iced.

“For the last year we’ve been studying the benefits,” said Sprizzo. “We wanted to make sure we had the perfect blend.”

IF YOU GO

Mush Coffee also serves Refreshers infused with freeze-dried fruit, plus sweets to pair with your beverage.

Mush Coffee is located at 1 Dock Street in East Rockaway, right next to The Lazy Lobster. It’s open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
