A motorcycle crash on the Long Island Expressway in Yaphank on Sunday afternoon claimed the life of Nassau County Supreme Court Justice Dawn Jimenez, according to Suffolk County Police.
Jimenez, 60, of Garden City, was a passenger on a 2007 Harley-Davidson operated by Frederick Fischer, 65, of Bay Shore, when the westbound motorcycle collided with a 2016 Lexus SUV near Exit 68 about 5:25 p.m. The Lexus had slowed for upcoming traffic, causing the motorcycle to strike its rear.
The impact pushed the Lexus into the rear of a 2019 Audi SUV.
Jimenez was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, where she was pronounced dead. Fischer was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Jimenez had previously served as a judge in Brooklyn
