New Babylon Village brunch spot, Mack’s, opens on Main Street

|

Get ready, brunch lovers — Mack’s is set to open on Friday, April 21, bringing a new twist to the Babylon Village culinary scene.

The restaurant, which fills the space formerly occupied Culture Fine Food and Cocktails (and before that Don Ricardo’s), has been fully renovated and will offer a homestyle brunch and lunch experience with farm-sourced ingredients and biscuits baked in-house.

Owner Patrick Mack, who received approval from the Village of Babylon in June 2022 to transform the restaurant at 94 E. Main Street, spent several months renovating the space and crafting menus that deliver a quality experience to diners.

When Culture closed in December 2021 after the pandemic hit the restaurant industry hard, Mack
decided to take a new approach and reinvent his vision.

“I spent time speaking to some people in the community and some friends, and I decided that brunch and lunch were underrepresented in Babylon Village,” he told Greater Long Island. “There are so many great restaurants here for dinner and bars for nightlife, but we wanted to do something different.”

Mack decided to play up their vaulted ceilings and windows to create a lighter and airier feel — almost reminiscent of the “courtyard” feel that Don Ricardo’s had.

For the time being, Mack plans to open Wednesday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. He hopes that in the future they can add additional days to the schedule or even add Friday and Saturday dinner service with a scratch menu that would change each weekend.
