Suffolk Police have released a second update in their manhunt for a Rocky Point man wanted in the stabbing death of his father at home eight days ago.
Homicide detectives believe Matthew Zoll, 23, crashed a black GMC Yukon SUV at the intersection of 25A and the William Floyd Parkway in Shoreham on Nov. 9 about 1:35 a.m. and was injured, police said.
Zoll is wanted for the murder of his father, 61-year-old U.S. Postal Service worker Joseph Zoll, who was killed about 10 minutes before the crash, at their home on Quail Road, police said. Authorities have been searching for Zoll ever since.
Cops are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Matthew Zoll. Anyone with information on Zoll’s location is asked to call 911, the Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad at 631.852.6392 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.220.TIPS.
Matthew Zoll is described as white, 6-foot-1 and about 150 pounds. Authorities released two photos of the son, noting further that he has brown hair, brown eyes and a small scar under his left eye.
Joseph Zoll was a U.S.P.S. carrier in Riverhead since 2014. He previously worked for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, according to bio information on his Facebook account. He has three other children — a son and two daughters, according to his Facebook page.
