New York Air National Guard salutes Long Island frontline workers with flyover on Friday – Sayville area is on flight path

The 106th Rescue Wing, a fleet in the New York Air National Guard, will take flight over Long Island on Friday to salute hospital and other COVID-19 frontline workers.

The unit, stationed at Francis S. Gabreski Air National Guard Base in Westhampton Beach, will start its flight demonstration about 12:15 p.m. near Riverhead and end at Jones Beach about 1 p.m., according to a Facebook post by 106th Rescue Wing.

Between those two points, the fleet will fly over Rocky Point, East Setauket, Stony Brook, Holstville, Blue Point, Sayville, Bay Shore and Massapequa.

The aircrafts consist of an HC-130J Combat King II search and rescue airplane and two HH-60G Pave Hawk search and rescue helicopters.
