New York Giants release Babylon’s Jake Carlock

|

It has been a dream come true for Jake Carlock to play for his childhood favorite team, the New York Giants.

Now, the Babylon native’s run with organization is over — at least momentarily — after the linebacker/ long snapper was released from the team’s 10-person practice squad Tuesday.

Carlock quickly turned to Twitter to thank the organization for the opportunity.

But this isn’t the end of Carlock’s football journey.

“I already talked to my trainer I’ll be back in the gym early tomorrow,” the Long Island University product told GreaterBabylon following his termination Tuesday night.

“You never know when the Giants or another team is going to need me, so I will make sure I am ready to go,” he said.

Carlock signed with his hometown team as an undrafted free agent this offseason following the 2019 NFL Draft. He was later added to the practice squad but was never activated to the regular-season roster.

During his time with the Giants, he impressed the coaching staff, especially during the preseason. He returned a 59-yard interception for a touchdown against the New York Jets on Aug. 8.

While he awaits what is ahead, he’s still got nothing but love for Big Blue.

“My favorite part of the organization has to be how they truly treat you like family,” he said. “There is not a bad person in the organization, and since Day 1 they have welcomed me right in.”
