New York State Park Police assigns its first-ever female K9 officer

|

The New York State Park Police has got a fresh pup on the beat — and this time, she’s a history-maker!

K9 “Kairos,” also known as “Kai,” is a 14-month-old German Shorthaired Pointer. Originally imported from Greece, and her name means a time when conditions are perfect for a crucial action.

Kai is partnered up with Officer Aleska McCumber, who is the first-ever female K9 Officer in the history of the agency.

The duo is currently undergoing Explosive Detection training and is expected to hit the ground running this summer.

Visitors to Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater, located at Jones Beach in the Long Island District, will be among the first to see Kai and Officer McCumber in action. The team will be patrolling the venue to ensure the safety of visitors and staff.
