The new Nole Café in Patchogue is getting set to host a weight loss contest that will run for two months this winter.

The Chamber Weight Loss Competition starts with a special weigh-in event on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the juice bar at 90 East Main Street.

Nole Café will also be hosting its ribbon-cutting ceremony that night.

It’s free for anyone to enter, but contestants are being asked to seek a minimum of five sponsors to raise $5 for every pound lost, with the final weigh-in March 14 at Nole, followed by an after-party at  Fulton’s Gate. That night also coincides with the annual fundraiser called Party for Patti, which raises money for the American Heart Association in memory of the late Patti Law.

“If any contestant has difficulty coming up with five sponsors, all they have to do is reach out to us [the Patchogue Young Professionals] and we’ll take care of finding them sponsors,” said the group’s chairman, Stephen King, also a realtor with Realty Connect USA.

Each contestant in the Chamber Weight Loss Competition will have free access to the New Patchogue Village Fitness & Spa (formerly Finest Fitness) throughout the eight weeks.

And, the winner — determined by the greatest percentage of weight loss — gets to donate all the combined proceeds to a charity of his or her choice.

Among the notables already signed up to compete are Mayor Paul Pontieri, the Chamber of Commerce’s executive director, David Kennedy, Young Professionals board members Courtney Weber, Benny Migliorino and Michele Cayea, as well as Mark Miller, a co-owner of Harbor Crab Co. and Dublin Deck in Patchogue.
