North Babylon youth center renamed in honor of community leader

He dedicated a large portion of his life to growing and establishing this North Babylon youth center — and now the facility has been renamed in his honor.

This week, Babylon Town officials met at 213 Phelps Lane to dedicate the North Babylon Teen Center to longtime North Babylon resident Anthony Tatti.

Tatti has run youth programs in the area for over 45 years. That includes helping get the facility built 2003 while serving as the executive director of North Babylon Community Youth Services, a non-profit organization that is housed there.

During his tenure, he created robust recreational and educational programing for children from kindergarten through high school to take part in year-round, said a town spokesperson.

“Being that these programs have created cherished memories for many residents and contributed to the development of so many children within the Town of Babylon, it is only right and tremendously fitting that the center be named after him,” said Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaffer.
