Below is Northwell Health’s full press statement about the new facility:
Northwell Health Physician Partners has opened a new, state-of-the-art medical office building across the street from Southside Hospital in Bay Shore.
The first floor of the building, located at 250 East Main Street, features a multidisciplinary surgical office with board certified and fellowship trained specialists in general surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, surgical oncology and vascular surgery.
Scott Wodicka, MD, chair of surgery at Southside Hospital, and his partner Lauren Licata, MD are general surgeons who also work closely with the acute care specialists and trauma surgeons Michael Grossman, MD; Brandon Fumanti, MD; Aparna Kolli, MD and Jay Yelon, DO. There is a vascular lab on-site where procedures are performed by vascular surgeons Luis Davila-Santini, MD and Pablo de los Santos, MD. As Northwell Health continues to advance cancer care in the community, surgical oncologists James Sullivan, MD and Gary Deutsch, MD will have dedicated offices in addition to new full-time plastic surgeon Adam Perry, MD.
“It’s important in medicine, and especially in the area of surgery, for physicians to collaborate to treat a patient in the most comprehensive manner,” Dr. Wodicka said. “With this new, spacious facility, we have a great opportunity to do just that.”
The second floor of the building has an internal medicine practice that offers comprehensive physical exams; nutrition and lifestyle counseling; adult immunizations; and diagnostic screening and other tests.
“Medicine should be a collaborative effort; to successfully treat any patient we must involve the patient in their care,” said Edward Hallal, MD, vice president of physician integration in Northwell Health’s Eastern region. “The proximity to Southside and the ever-growing list of available specialists in the area has made it easier for patients to follow up on our recommendations.”
Elected officials and other local dignitaries joined representatives from Northwell Health Physician Partners and Southside Hospital at a recent ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of the new medical/surgical complex.
Among the speakers were: Gene F. Coppa, MD, system chair of surgery at Northwell Health; Thomas McGinn, MD, Northwell Health’s chair of medicine; Dr. Hallal; Dr. Wodicka; Donna Moravick, NP, executive director at Southside; and Northwell Health’s Eastern Region Executive Director Winnie Mack, RN.
