Northwell opens its healthcare centers on Fire Island for summer

|

Northwell Health is opening its three Fire Island medical care centers, now through Labor Day weekend.

The facilities in Ocean Beach, Cherry Grove and Saltaire will provide the treatments:

  • Minor injuries and burns;
  • Sprains and strains;
  • Allergic reactions; and
  • Rashes and skin irritations, including poison oak, poison ivy and insect bites.

The sites will not be testing for COVID-19.

The care centers are usually open early in the season, however, saw a delayed opening due to the pandemic.

The Saltaire location at 100 Bay Promenade, is a new treatment center, while it will be the Northwell’s eighth summer at Ocean Beach (504 Bayberry Walk) and the seventh year staffing Cherry Grove (153 Doctors Walk).

“Even though our health care practitioners were consumed with caring for COVID-19 patients and my community relations team has been working diligently to provide free COVID antibody testing at churches in underserved areas, we recognized how important it is to provide this medical care over the summer in Fire Island and have even expanded our locations to include Saltaire,” said Edward Fraser, vice president of community relations at Northwell Health and project manager of the Fire Island immediate care centers. “My sincerest thanks to everyone who helped make this possible.”

hours of operation

They will also be open on Fridays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

For those that need immediate treatment call 911.
