Opening date announced for new Aldi location in Medford

|

Aldi, the German-based discount grocery chain, is gearing up to open soon in Medford.

A company spokesperson confirmed to GLI that the store is set to launch this summer at Medford Crossings shopping center, located at 2799 Route 112. A newly posted sign outside of the location just went up announcing the grand opening date: June 12.

The 22,000-square-foot store was built on the site of the former Michaels craft store. Earlier this summer, Michaels relocated a few doors down within the same shopping center.

Beyond Medford, Aldi has two additional Long Island locations planned for 2025. One will open in Lake Ronkonkoma at the former King Kullen site at 153 Ronkonkoma Avenue, while the other is slated for Bethpage at the old A.C. Moore Arts and Crafts location at 3988 Hempstead Turnpike.

The company has also recently expanded with new stores in Central Islip — at 215 Carleton Avenue on the former New York Institute of Technology campus — and East Northport, in the space previously occupied by Barnes & Noble. With these openings, Aldi now operates 15 stores across Long Island.

Aldi first entered the Long Island market in 2011 with a store in Bay Shore. Since then, it has expanded into Lindenhurst, Patchogue, Selden, Lake Grove, Riverhead, Rocky Point, Bohemia, Valley Stream, Carle Place, North Babylon, Shirley, and Hempstead.
