Owner of 3 Sons Deli in Kings Park opens a new pizza kitchen right next door

|

Rock Massa and his family opened the doors this month to 3 Sons Pizza Kitchen at 623 East Main St. in Kings Park — right next door to their existing establishment, 3 Sons Deli & Catering.

And since its grand opening, Massa said the orders haven’t stopped and the positive feedback truly has been “humbling.”

“I have such a great clientele from the deli,” he said. “[The town] has been so good to me, from the schools to the youth program, to the hospital. They really took me in. It’s been a blessing.”

Massa launched 3 Sons Deli & Catering in 2019 with his wife Lauren and their three sons, Rock, Anthony and Frank.

The family brought their 18 years of experience in the deli business to Kings Park, and over the past two years, they have become known for their takeout breakfast, lunch and full catering menu.

When the former DiNapoli’s Pizzeria next door shut down, Massa originally initially planned on expanding the deli’s kitchen into the vacant space.

But then he thought why not try something new.

“I grew up with my mother and my nanny — my mother’s mother — lived with us, so we were raised around food our whole lives,” Massa said. “It was something I was always curious about and interested in the whole process of pizza.”

The pizzeria also provides takeout, full dinners, and catering for customers.

3 Sons Pizza Kitchen offers a variety of Italian cuisine options, such as Anthony’s Famous Baked Ziti, Chicken Alla Massa, dozens of homestyle pasta dishes, many pizza creations and more.

One notable specialty pizza that Massa and his team created is The Kingsmen slice, named after the Kings Park High School mascot.

This pie is made of chicken cutlet, mozzarella and bacon — and it’s drizzled with Russian dressing. It’s all on 3 Sons’ signature garlic crust.

“We put spins on sandwiches that we make at the deli, and we make it into pizza,” he added. “We took [The Kingsmen sandwich] and made that our first signature slice. The high school kids love it.”

Massa said the entire operation of 3 Sons Deli and 3 Sons Pizza Kitchen could not have happened without the support of his family, employees and the Kings Park community.

His youngest son, Frank, stepped up to help with the pizzeria; his wife works full-time; and his future daughter-in-law joined the family business, as well, he said.

Even Massa’s father is down at the pizzeria and deli helping out, he said.

“Without them, I couldn’t have done it,” he said. “My employees are like family too. They really have taken on so much extra work themselves to make this work. It’s been incredible.”

3 Sons Pizza Kitchen is open Monday through Saturday, from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. and on Sunday, from noon to 8 p.m. To see their full menu and catering offerings, visit their website here.
