Owner says Cool Beans closing in West Sayville, vegan bakery moving in

|

Cool Beans Coffee Shoppe in West Sayville is closing in November and possibly relocating in another community, ownership announced.

Meanwhile, he noted that a gluten free and vegan bakery will replace the Washington Avenue shop and is preparing to take over his lease.

“It was a honor serving you all. Stop in now for the last of your favorite organic coffee,” the coffee house’s owner Patrick Brennan Jr. announced. “We will be relocating to a different area. I will keep you all updated. All shirts and merchandise is 40 percent off.”

Brennan and Vincent Pezzuto opened the shop – located at 14 Washington Ave. right next door to the West Sayville Post Office in September 2021.

“If I can’t find a Sayville location on Main Street, I will try to relocate Cool Beans to Center Moriches,” Brennan, who bought out his business partner in 2022, told Greater Sayville.

Brennan, 29, said he’s losing thousands of dollars each month. He explained that the newly opened Starbucks nearby, along with the relatively new Sayville Bean on Main Street, have crushed his business.

“Unfortunately no one’s coming in enough to pay the bills and I’m not sure if I will be able to stay local anymore,” he noted on Facebook.

The William Floyd High School graduate added that part of the motivation of possibly relocating to Center Moriches is that the area does not have “an authentic coffee shop.”

Cool Beans’ has featured USDA certified organic coffee; a variety of pastries, muffins and cakes; and a modern vintage style decor that was aimed at both younger and older generations.
