Past Babylon chamber prez opens barre, pilates studio in Lindenhurst

|

A new fitness studio is now open in Lindenhurst Village, and if we had to guess, you probably know the owner.

It’s Babylon Village resident Kelly Peckholdt.

She’s been an active community member in the area for over a decade. She’s the owner of Positions Dance Studio in Babylon Village, a former president of the Babylon Village Chamber of Commerce, and was a recent Babylon Village trustee candidate.

Recently, Kelly and her husband, Kevin, got to work on their next venture: Babylon Barre & Pilates.

“I have a passion for movement and motivating people to be the best version of themselves,” said Kelly, who has also worked as a personal trainer and health coach.

Located at 182 S. 1st Street, the studio offers a wide selection of classes, such as barre, mat pilates, small group reformer and yoga. There are also be private sessions available. (CLICK HERE for the full schedule.

Kelly, who took over Positions 10 years ago, built an adult fitness program from the ground up at her dance studio.

“I knew that it was time to let the adult fitness program become its own entity and truly grow as it deserves to,” said Kelly on why she decided to launch Babylon Barre & Pilates.

She started looking around for a space, but then 2020 happened. With the looming uncertainty, the pandemic slowed her search. She looked in Babylon Village, but no spot was suitable for her needs. She says she’s ecstatic about the location they chose in Lindenhurst, calling it the “the perfect space.”

“We are really looking forward to becoming a part of a new community,” she said.

Babylon Barre & Pilates had a grand opening ceremony Saturday, Jan. 14. From 8 a.m. to noon, there was sample classes, vendors, refreshments and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The fitness studio will be having a Founder’s Rate Membership promotion that includes unlimited classes per month for $99. Click here to learn more.
