The Harbor Store in Davis Park is under new ownership — and the people behind it know the beach community as well as anyone.
“This is not only nostalgic, but a full-circle moment for us,” said co-owner Nate Winn, who, along with his father Vincent Winn, officially took over the store this spring. “I spent almost 70% of my life over there every summer. It was our second home.”
A family rooted in Davis Park

The Winn family, of Patchogue, has deep roots in Davis Park. For more than 20 summers, chef and Suffolk County Community College professor Vincent Winn ran the kitchen at the Casino Café, with his kids — Nate, Lizzie, and Erin — right there beside him. They grew up bussing tables, cooking on the line, and running around the beach community that became their second home.
“We were like the little Rugrats running around,” Nate said. “We started selling lemonade and painted shells, and by high school we were bartending and waitressing. Davis Park is in our blood.”
Now, Nate and Vincent own the Harbor Store, with Lizzie and Erin helping oversee day-to-day operations.
Summer Beans, the new coffee shop

The biggest change is the addition of Summer Beans, a full-service coffee bar.
“Growing up there, it was always just pour-your-own, like a gas station,” Nate said. “We wanted to bring in lattes, espressos, matcha, chai — and do it correctly.”
The family sourced an espresso machine from Italy and partnered with Tend Coffee, a roaster in Shirley, to serve everything from cappuccinos to iced matcha lattes. “Everybody’s loving it,” Nate said.
The breakfast menu has grown too, with acai bowls and French toast joining the classic bacon, egg, and cheese.
Other upgrades

Alongside the coffee shop, the Winns have also:
- Revamped the liquor store, now open on weekends with tastings from local distilleries
- Added grab-and-go dinners like chicken francese, pork chops, and lobster salad
- Upgraded the grill with smash burgers and a hot honey chicken sandwich
- Started beach chair rentals, with paddleboards coming soon
According to Nate, the response has been nothing but positive.
“People are thrilled. It’s a friendly face, a family business again,” he said. “There’s a lot of love, a lot of support. We wanted to bring warmth and a facelift to the space, so people feel welcomed.”
