Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts has promoted longtime staffer Matt McKone to director of operations, theatre officials said Monday.
McKone, who joined the theatre in 2015, previously served as production manager. He has held several roles at the Main Street venue, including lighting director during a 2016 renovation and technical director in 2017.
In his new role, McKone will oversee the theatre’s operational strategy and work to enhance audience experiences.
“I am honored to take on this new role and continue serving the Patchogue Theatre community,” McKone said. “I look forward to collaborating with our talented team to create unforgettable experiences for our audiences while honoring the rich legacy of this venue.”
Patchogue Theatre Executive Director Michele Rizzo-Berg said McKone’s depth of experience makes him well-suited for the new position.
“Matt has proven time and again his ability to navigate complex challenges with ease and grace,” Rizzo-Berg said. “His understanding of our operations, coupled with his experience in the industry, makes him the ideal choice to lead us into this exciting new chapter for the Patchogue Theatre.”
Ryan Murphy, chairman of the theatre’s board of directors, added that McKone “has always demonstrated dedication to the theatre and tremendous skill in his job performance.”
McKone holds a bachelor’s degree in technical theatre from High Point University. He has worked in venue management for over a decade.
