It’s perfection yet again for the Smithtown varsity gymnastics team

New coach. Losing nine team members to graduation.

Didn’t matter to the Smithtown girls varsity gymnastics team. The squad earned its second straight Suffolk County team championship Tuesday night, despite losing nine seniors from last year’s unit.

First-year coach Jessica Berroyer guided Smithtown to the championship at the county meet, which has held at Walt Whitman High School.

The girls pulled off a second consecutive undefeated season by winning the Suffolk team
championship at Whitman High School. Smithtown, which competes in Suffolk’s League II, went undefeated in the regular season, winning all 10 of its meets.

It was the program’s second consecutive perfect season. Commack (8-2) placed in second at the county championship, while Half Hollow Hills (7-3) came in third.
