Gala Foods has officially opened its newest supermarket on Middle Country Road in Centereach — and Greater Long Island stopped by for a first look inside.
The grand opening was celebrated Saturday, Sept. 27, with a ribbon-cutting at 9 a.m. before the doors opened to shoppers at 10 a.m. The store is located at 1759-1 Middle Country Road.
The Centereach location is part of the Aurora Grocery Group, a family-owned business that has been serving communities for about 40 years. Aurora operates roughly two dozen supermarkets across five states.
On Long Island, many of its locations originally ran under the Compare Foods banner. In recent years, several were rebranded as Gala Foods to unify the company’s identity while expanding its footprint locally, according to industry publication The Produce News.
