Babylon Village’s new authentic Chinese eatery Long Island Pekin opened its doors for dining Wednesday afternoon.
As previously reported, the Cantonese restaurant had already been serving the community through its delivery service since April, while the inside space was being renovated.
“Our takeout has been well received by the community,” said co-owner Jason Lee, who took over the property at 96 East Main Street in December.
Now, for the first time, patrons were able to try their favorite Long Island Pekin staples inside the new establishment, which features an 8-seat bar across from a merchant station — that sells homemade sauces and Long Island Pekin swag— and a back dining area that fits 64 people seated.
Since opening, Lee says some of the fan favorites have been their soup dumplings and scallion pancakes.
“Everybody has been very kind to us,” said Lee, “Either they are all very nice or we are doing something right.”
