Great beer selection, tasty food and a beautiful waterfront property.
Those were this Patchoguian’s perfect ingredients in creating his dream brewery in Riverhead.
Jeff Schaeffer, an East End native, opened his massive 8,500-square-foot-space today at 221 East Main Street in Riverhead.
His creation, Peconic County Brewing, has been a project in the works for way over a year.
“I wish I can hire myself today to start the project two years ago,” Schaeffer said. “I’ve learned so much so fast, but it is nice to finally see it all come together.”
Before landing in Riverhead, he toyed with the idea of staying in his neck of the woods in Patchogue.
“I love Patchogue, but it was hard to find a space this impressive that wasn’t already taken up,” said Schaeffer.
Schaeffer told GreaterPatchogue that everything about Riverhead made sense for him.
“It’s a strong strong beer community here,” he said, “and this is such a big, unique space.”
PCB is located on the bottom floor of a brand-new apartment complex, sitting along the Peconic River, which can be viewed easily from the brewery’s 2,000-square-foot deck.
Inside the space, there is enough seating for over 100 people and plenty of decorations for photo-ops, he said.
This includes a large mural painted by local artist Paul Motisi — a perfect backdrop for an Instagram photo.
As far as beer goes, Schaeffer said his brewery is offering a wide selection of brews, with something from everyone.
“I want everyone to feel comfortable here,” he said. “I want everyone’s significant others to like as much as I do.”
For food, PCB stands out with its sprawling 1,000-square-foot full kitchen.
Schaeffer calls his food menu as “gourmet-pub style.”
Think lobster rolls, giant Bavarian pretzels, charcuterie boards and wings.
There’s also a brisket-short rib blend burger. To see the full food and drink menus click here.
Peconic County Brewing is open daily from noon till 10 p.m. and is planning a grand opening this Friday. Check the brewery’s Facebook page for more information on the event.
