After a couple weeks’ worth of a soft launch, the South Country Tavern in East Patchogue is now fully open to the public.
The former Peppercorn’s building at 668 South Country Road — just east of Dunton Avenue — underwent renovations that began in April.
The new restaurant opened to friends and family May 13 and has kept limited hours since.
South Country Tavern will be open noon to 10 p.m., seven days a week, starting Friday.

“It’s been crowded most nights,” said Dave Hampson of Brookhaven, who co-owns the restaurant with Lois Piro of Bellport. “The food’s been amazing. We’ve been getting great feedback.”
The prime rib dishes, like the French dip and open face steak sandwich, have proved incredibly popular.
“I can eat the prime rib dip every day,” he said.
The next goal is to start introducing a breakfast menu.
“We’re hoping to roll out breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays,” Hampson said.
“Maybe in the next two weeks.”
