Photos: Veterans Day ceremonies at Patchogue’s Four Corners

|

George Barrett, the commander of VFW Post 2913, had some suggestions for those gathered at the Four Corners intersection in Patchogue Village for Veterans Day.

He urged them to thank local vets for their sacrifices to the country — even ask them about their time in the service.

“They have stories and enjoy telling them,” Barrett said. “Do this every day of the year, not just one.”

The VFW members gathered alongside veterans from American Legion Post 269 as well as those with the local AMVETS Post 111.

The ceremonies, which also drew locally elected leaders, were helped along by Patchogue Fire Department volunteers, as well as the Patchogue-Medford High School marching band.
