There’s plenty to do away from the backyard and across the Greater Patchogue area and beyond this Independence Day. This handy guide should help in the planning process.

PATCHOGUE VILLAGE
The festivities kick off at 10 a.m. under the Patchogue Theater marquee, where the Atlantic Community Band will be performing a free concert of Sousa Marches, parade favorites and Broadway show tunes.
The Patchogue Lions Club’s annual Fourth of July parade commences at 10:30 a.m. at West Avenue and Main Street and continues east to Case Avenue, which is just east of Route 112, still on Main Street.
The village’s Summer Concert Series kicks off at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Shorefront Park Bandshell (pictured above). The season’s first concert will be performed by The Neighborhood Band Howie Seals & Friends. It runs until 9 p.m.
BELLPORT VILLAGE
The annual Artists on the Lane event, an outdoor exhibition of original artwork organized by the South Bay Art Association, will be open to the public at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Artists are invited to register at 8 a.m. at the Community Center at 4 Bell Street. But click here for more details.

Looking to take a drive, perhaps for fireworks?
There’s no more comprehensive list of Fourth of July happenings in Nassau and Suffolk counties than the one compiled by the Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau and Sports Commission.
The list includes fireworks shows as close as Farmingville and Babylon, musical performances in the East End vineyards, and the huge Tall Ships event in Greenport Harbor, among dozens of other attractions.
