Plans for Babylon Village hotel fall through

|

The planned 70-room hotel in the heart of Babylon Village is no longer happening.

On Wednesday, Babylon Village Mayor Ralph Scordino took to Facebook to say the following:

“I was informed by the Babylon Industrial Development Agency (IDA) that the developers of the proposed Babylon Courtyard (Hotel) have decided not to proceed forward in developing the property located at 223 Deer Park Avenue. Formal and completed plans had not submitted to the Village of Babylon and with the developers having additional projects underway in various locations, they have decided not to proceed forward with this one.”

The project, which has been in the works since 2019, was to be developed on the current site of a bus company, just off Deer Park Avenue on George Street.

“I wish them well in their future endeavors and I thank the Babylon IDA for all their efforts with this proposed project and also in their assistance with our downtown business district in providing PPE supplies to our merchants during the COVID-19 pandemic,” added Scordino.
