Third Squad detectives said a family member reported 15-year-old Laniya Gaymon missing on Jan. 23 after she did not return to her home on Coventry Lane, after school that day.
Laniya is 5-foot-9 and weighs 220 pounds, according to a police report. She was last seen wearing a gray sweater, black t-shirt and light colored sweatpants. Additionally, she has a nose ring.
Long Island has 27 missing children cases
Authorities noted that Laniya has left home before, and she is possibly in Wyandanch or Manhattan.
Laniya’s case is now among dozens of missing children cases across Long Island, some dating back several decades, according to New York state’s Division of Criminal Justice Services.
