Popular brunch eatery The Shed to take over Bluestone Tavern in West Sayville

|

The owners of Huntington’s popular all-day brunch eatery, The Shed, have searched high and low across Long Island to find the perfect area for a second location.

And, according to owner John Tunney, their mission is finally complete.

This summer, The Shed will take over the Bluestone Tavern in West Sayville, located at 21 Main Street.

As previously reported, the gastropub operators announced via Facebook and on their website they were ending their 16-year run to pave way for The Shed. Bluestone will serve its last meal on July 21, ownership said.

Renovations inside what once was a mansion begin this August, with plans for an early fall opening.

“The opportunity of the Bluestone Tavern was brought to us and we knew almost immediately that it was the perfect spot for our next in The Shed location,” said Tunney, a longtime restaurateur.  “We cannot wait to start beautification and become a part of the wonderful Sayville community!”

This isn’t the first venture for Tunney on the South Shore, as he recently opened up a third location for his award-winning Besito Mexican restaurant in West Islip in fall 2017.

Now, instead of just serving up Mexican staples, he’ll offer American-styled brunch, lunch and dinner items — seven days a week to South Shore frequenters.

“John built [The Shed] based on what he was searching for on Long Island,” said Melissa Sorice, the company’s head of marketing. “We would have lunch every day, and we would look for lunch places, but nothing really fit the bill for us.”

So in October 2017, he built his dream spot in Huntington, which serves a variety of dishes, from pancakes and omelets to burgers and steak sandwiches. And, according to the owners, all the dishes are made fresh-to-order from scratch.

“The Shed is inviting, has great food, and perfect for all ages,” added Sorice.

Like the Huntington location, the bar will be a focal point at the new West Sayville space.

“The bar is going to be bright and welcoming, right when you walk through the door,” Sorice said.

The Shed has also built a name for themselves in serving “crazy Bloody Marys.”
