Brian Laundrie — the boyfriend of slain Blue Point woman Gabby Petito — died by suicide after shooting himself in the head, his family’s attorney Steven Bertolino said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Chris and Roberta Laundrie have been informed the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head and the manner of death was suicide,” reads a statement from the East Islip-based attorney.
Multiple media outlets, including The Post, reported a forensic anthropologist determined the death to be a suicide. He was 23 years old.
Federal investigators originally found Laundrie’s remains last month in marshy parklands in North Port, Florida.
Laundrie, the lone suspect in the Petito murder case, was declared missing by authorities on Sept. 17.
A few days later, a federal warrant was issued for Laundrie relating to his activities following the homicide death of his 22-year-old girlfriend and cross-country travel partner.
Petito, an aspiring travel blogger who this summer went on a cross-country trip with Laundrie in her converted white Ford Transit van, is believed to have been killed sometime in late August.
The Teton County, Wyoming, coroner confirmed in October that she died of strangulation.
