A teacher aide with Connetquot schools is is being hailed for her heroic actions in saving a second grader’s life at school.
Helen B. Duffield Elementary School’s Stella Tsimis on Wednesday, Feb. 1, successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver on the child, who was choking during lunchtime in the cafeteria of the Ronkonkoma school.
“Ms. Tsimis stepped up without hesitation and we all thank her for saving the student’s life,” school Principal Lisa Farrell said. “She is a hero.”
