Rooted Hospitality Group has officially rebranded RHUM in Patchogue as RUMBA Island Inspired Cuisine and Rum Bar, aligning the name with its original Hampton Bays concept.
“RHUM was always RUMBA,” said David Hersh, co-founder of the Long Island-based hospitality group. “From the moment we opened the doors in Patchogue, we brought the same island spirit, the same vibrant flavors, and the same love for escape that Rachel and I first dreamed up on the docks of Long Island.
“Our guests felt it too. They didn’t want something different — they wanted more of what they already loved. So, we’re bringing it home. This is RUMBA.”
RHUM first opened on Main Street in 2016 as a downtown spin-off of the original RUMBA in Hampton Bays. Over time, owners Rachel and David Hersh said the experience in Patchogue began to mirror the energy and feel of the flagship.
The couple launched RUMBA in 2010 with the goal of bringing island-inspired food and drinks to the South Shore, rooted in their shared love of travel, hospitality, and sunshine.
What’s new?

As part of the rebrand, RUMBA in Patchogue has undergone a tri-level renovation.
The building offers three distinct dining and social experiences, and all have been updated, according to a press announcement:
- First floor: A lively bar setup with garage doors that open directly to Main Street.
- Second floor: A family-friendly dining space with room for private events in the Portside Room.
- Rooftop: A now-covered rooftop lounge with signature swing seats, tropical cocktails, and open-air views—billed as the only experience of its kind in the area.
“Whether you’re relaxing dockside in Hampton Bays or swinging above Main Street in Patchogue, RUMBA delivers its signature blend of bold island flavors, handcrafted rum cocktails, and good-time energy,” said Hersh.
“The only decision now is: dockside or rooftop?”
