Roast Sandwich House set to expand into Babylon Village in May

|

Joseph Cordaro’s Roast Sandwich House is set to open its sixth location next month in Babylon Village, bringing the Long Island-born chain’s chef-driven sandwiches to Deer Park Avenue.

The fast-casual eatery, known for its house-roasted meats and artisanal ingredients, is taking over the former Babylon Bagel space at 114 Deer Park Ave.

A Hicksville native and culinary school graduate, Cordaro launched Roast Sandwich House in Melville in 2011 with a vision of combining restaurant-quality food with the convenience of fast-casual dining.

“We wanted to take the same principles you’d find in fine dining — using high-quality ingredients, making everything from scratch — and put it in a more casual setting,” Cordaro said.

Cordaro’s concept took off, leading to expansions in Hicksville, Mineola, Syosset and Bellmore.

The new Babylon location marks Roast Sandwich House’s first venture into a village setting.

“I’ve always wanted to open in a village, and Babylon was a perfect fit,” Cordaro said. “One of my investors lives and works in the area and really pushed for it. It felt like the right move.”

Undergoing a full renovation, the space will feature custom maple counters with quartz tops, detailed tile work, an open ceiling with exposed ductwork, and track lighting for an industrial-chic aesthetic. Cordaro said his team is aiming for mid-May opening.

Cordaro said Roast Sandwich House prides itself on using antibiotic-free poultry, Certified Angus Beef, fresh produce, and housemade condiments. The menu features signature sandwiches, salads, soups and sides, all made to order.
