A familiar face from the North Shore is heading south with his own concept.
Roger Rutherford, the longtime manager of Roger’s Frigate in Port Jefferson Village, exclusively told Greater Long Island that he’s been planning his very own dessert bar in Patchogue that will sell all different types of treats.
“This is a concept I’ve been working on for a while,” he said. “It’s my baby.”
Roger’s Dessert Bar is set to open on East Main Street sometime in May and will feature pastries, cappuccinos, smoothies, candies and other types of sweets.
“It’s going to be a great place where families can come after dinner, sit down and have a snack,” he said.
The dessert bar is not going to be related to the Frigate and will have its own special flair. The space at 18 E. Main St. is currently under construction.
“I canvassed the area and realized there’s nothing like what I want to bring in Patchogue,” he said.
The dessert bar will open where Duchess Cookies used to be. Inside, visitors will be able to grab some cookies or a shake in a cozy, sit-down setting. There will also be a bar (non-alcoholic) with stools for those looking for a quick bite. “I’m really excited,” Rutherford said.
