Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine has announced plans for a large-scale Independence Day celebration this summer, featuring a free concert by country music star Brett Young and a fireworks show by the Grucci family.
The event, called Freedom Fest, is scheduled for July 3 at the Catholic Health Amphitheater at Bald Hill in Farmingville and is being billed as Suffolk County’s official celebration of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, according to an announcement.
The celebration is being presented as part of Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine’s America 250 initiative and is expected to include live music, community festivities and a fireworks finale.
“This is more than a concert — it is a celebration of our nation’s history, our veterans, our families, and the spirit of Suffolk County,” said JVC Broadcasting CEO John Caracciolo. “Freedom Fest will be a signature America 250 event that residents can enjoy at no cost to taxpayers of Suffolk County.”
Organizers say the event will be free for up to 7,500 Suffolk County residents, though tickets will be required due to venue capacity and security restrictions.
According to the announcement, the celebration will feature a headline performance by Brett Young along with opening acts and a fireworks display produced by the Grucci family.
The event will be supported through private sponsorships, advertising and community partnerships, officials said, with no cost to taxpayers.
Sponsors and partners include the Long Island State Veterans Home, Discover Long Island, Jake’s 58, Maggio Environmental, Catholic Health, the Town of Brookhaven and JVC Broadcasting.
