A 38-year-old Huntington man lost control of his Ducati after trying to pass a Kia Seltos near Friday evening
A motorcyclist was killed Friday evening after striking the rear bumper of a sedan on Round Swamp Road in Melville, Suffolk County Police said.
The 38-year-old Huntington man was riding a 2023 Ducati motorcycle south near Hilltop Drive about 6:45 p.m. when he tried to pass a southbound 2022 Kia Seltos and struck its right rear bumper, police said.
The man lost control and was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene, police said. The Ducati caught fire.
The Kia was driven by Stephen Kutcher, 85, of Plainview, with Susan Kutcher, 85, also of Plainview, as a passenger. Neither was injured in the crash.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating the crash and are seeking information from anyone who witnessed the incident.
