A Bay Shore motorcycle rider is hospitalized with serious injuries after being thrown from his bike during rear-end crash with a friend’s bike in downtown Patchogue early Saturday — the second motorcyclist to strike a vehicle from behind in Suffolk County in less than six hours, police said.

Justin Horning, 26, was operating a 2005 Suzuki sport bike westbound on the heart of Main Street — between Rider and North Ocean avenues — abound 12:06 a.m. when the front of his motorcycle made contact with the rear of a 2012 Honda sport bike, police said.

The impact threw Horning to the ground. He was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital – Suffolk in Patchogue for treatment, cops said.

The Honda operator, 25-year-old Justina Ruland of Bay Shore, was not thrown from the motorcycle and was not injured, police said. Horning had been riding behind his friend Ruland at the time of the crash.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.

Hours earlier Friday evening, a motorcyclist was killed after striking the rear bumper of a sedan on Round Swamp Road in Melville, as GLI previously reported.

Anees Khan, 38, of Huntington, was riding a 2023 Ducati motorcycle south near Hilltop Drive about 6:45 p.m. when he tried to pass a southbound 2022 Kia Seltos and struck its right rear bumper, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the Patchogue crash to contact Suffolk Poice’s Fifth Squad at 631.854.8552.
