The 2017 installment of the popular South Country Safe Summer Youth Program in Bellport started last Wednesday, July 5, and will be running through Aug. 10.
Safe Summer nights are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Thy run from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. in Martha Avenue Park and offer music, basketball and other activities for young people — under the age of 20 — to have a good time in a safe setting.
This year there’s a DJ every Wednesday night.
The program is a joint effort by the town and the Suffolk County Police Department, which supervises the events.
