MaxPreps rewarded Sayville football on winning Suffolk’s Conference III championship, bumping the Golden Flashes up three slots to No. 4 this week in its New York state high school ranking.
MaxPreps the previous two weeks had Sayville at No. 7. The Golden Flashes (6-0) took care of business at home Friday night, blowing out Westhampton for the second time in three weeks.
This time Sayville beat the Hurricanes 32-7. Two weeks earlier, in the regular season finale, it was 47-21. And in between, Sayville knocked off Happauge, 41-6, in the first round of the playoffs.
For the season, the Golden Flashes outscored their opponents 247-55.
Sayville’s high ranking on MaxPreps is bolstered by the team’s mid-season, non-conference 24-0 win over William Floyd, who bounced back to win Suffolk’s Conference I championship this weekend.
No other Suffolk school is ranked in the MaxPrep’s top 10.
