A packed crowd, plenty of spice and some serious hometown pride filled Greenport Harbor Brewing Co.’s Peconic location for the annual North Fork Chili Cook-Off — a welcome blast of heat as record-low temperatures gripped the region outside.
Local fire departments and North Fork restaurants went ladle to ladle with one another Sunday for top honors, with Southold Fire Department sweeping both the People’s Choice and Judges’ Choice categories for best firehouse chili.
Ellen’s on Front took first place on the restaurant side.
